- The Center For Independent Living, housed corporate sponsored simulation laboratories for patients with brain injury, front-page story on USA Today, funded by The National Institutes Of Health and honored by The Governor Of Ohio. Research on how the verbal and visual brain can contribute to assisting in achieving independence for over 10,000 hospitalized patients was published in scientific journals. Computer administered treatments were designed by Dr. Florance as an early avant guarde approach.
- The Language Gym programs for children and adults with auditory-language processing disabilities honored by CBS News, funded by The U.S. Office Of Education, and The U.S. Bureau Of Education For The Handicapped and honored by Rotary International. Dr. Florance, as an early board member of Head Start, supervised rehabilitation teams that served over 600 children per year. She created and supervised a postgraduate residency program for physicians, social workers, physical, occupation and speech therapists and psychologists.
